MICHAEL Laudrup has cooled speculation linking Swansea City with Sevilla striker Alvaro Negredo, admitting the Spanish international would be too expensive for the Swans.
The 27-year-old, who is being tracked by the likes of Everton, Tottenham and Borussia Dortmund, has been touted as a transfer target for Swansea.
But with his club Sevilla believed to value the 14-cap Spain forward at around £15 million, Swans boss Laudrup does not believe Negredo will be moving to the Liberty Stadium.
"I don't think it's possible because I know there are other teams who want him," he said.
"I think we're talking double figures in terms of millions of pounds, so I don't think we can (sign him).
"It's out of our league. We cannot pay £10 million, £12 million or £14 million."
Sevilla's financial difficulties mean that Negredo could be available for a cut-price deal, alerting a number of clubs to his potential availability.
The former Real Madrid player has scored 18 goals in La Liga so far this season, making him the fourth top-scorer behind Lionel Messi, Cristiano Ronaldo and Radamel Falcao.
Laudrup has already stated his intention to sign a striker in the summer, with Celta Vigo forward Iago Aspas and Chelsea's Romelu Lukaku — currently on loan at West Brom — believed to be in his sights.
