GARETH Rees scored his second century in successive games to steer Glamorgan to a draw with Lancashire at Old Trafford.
The opener made a crucial unbeaten 107 to pull his side away from danger in their LV= County Championship Division Two clash.
For a while it looked as if Simon Kerrigan — the spinner who bowled Glamorgan to defeat at Colwyn Bay earlier in the season — was about to return to haunt them again.
At tea, the Welsh county were on 116-5 with a lead of just 23 after Kerrigan's spell of 5-30 in 29 balls.
That had come after openers Rees and Will Bragg began confidently, putting on 66 for the first wicket.
Kerrigan, who claimed seven wickets in Glamorgan's first innings, had Bragg snapped up at short-leg for 13.
Murray Goodwin looked like he was about to pick up where he had left off in the first innings by twice sweeping Arron Lilley for four, but his stay was brought to an end when Kerrigan found his outside edge and Ashwell Prince took the catch at slip.
It got worse for Glamorgan as Chris Cooke, Jim Allenby and Mark Wallace all fell in quick succession.
There were a few scares after the break as Rees was nearly caught at short-leg off Kerrigan, with Nathan McCullum also escaping in similar fashion.
But the sixth-wicket pair remained defiant. McCullum steered a ball from Glenn Chapple through backward point for four and Rees reverse-swept Kerrigan to the boundary.
Rees then unfurled a cover drive against Kerrigan before clipping the spinner through backward point to complete a century from 155 balls.
McCullum then drilled Lilley to long-on before the skippers agreed to settle for a draw.
Earlier, McCullum finished with a five-wicket haul on his championship debut as Lancashire's first innings epic came to a close just before lunch.
McCullum helped wrap up the tail as Lancashire were eventually bowled out for 567.
Resuming on 423-5, Lancashire lost Luke Procter for 75, bowled by McCullum's first ball of the day, then the spinner quickly followed that up with the wicket of Kyle Hogg, trapped leg before.
Dean Cosker picked up his second wicket of the match by having Chapple stumped by Wallace before the pair combined to remove Gareth Cross for 64.
