Police make arrests in probe over two assaults in Swansea and Port Talbot

POLICE investigating weekend assaults in Swansea and Port Talbot have made arrests.

The victims in both incidents were taken to the city's Morriston Hospital.

Officers are now appealing for the public's help during their inquiries.

The first of the Saturday night incidents took place at Talbot Road in Port Talbot shortly before 7.40pm.

The victim, aged 35, suffered abdominal injuries.

A 31 year-old woman was arrested in connection with the assault.

Police said the victim's injuries were not considered life- threatening.

A police cordon was put in place in the road near Kickstart Motorcycles.

The Swansea assault happened at Somerset Place shortly before 11.45pm.

Police said the 23 year-old victim suffered chest injuries.

A 41-year-old man was arrested in connection with the assault.

Officers said the victim's injuries were not considered life- threatening.

A police cordon was in place in the street into yesterday morning.

Meanwhile, officers were called to the Swansea Council-run rubbish tip at Derwen Fawr after an injured man was discovered on site.

A council spokesman said: "When staff arrived for work they found a member of the public on site bleeding from a head injury.

"The ambulance service and police were immediately called and he was taken to hospital for treatment.

"It did not appear as if he had fallen but had collapsed after hitting his head on a metal staircase and seemed to be suffering from concussion."

No police spokesman was available for comment.
