IT'S one of the biggest and most glamorous shows on television.
But even a superstar like X Factor judge Nicole Scherzinger wants to celebrate their birthday with some exceptional Welsh baking.
Owner of Waunarlwydd-based Sweet Creations Jayne Nantel was shocked when she received a call from the producers of the ITV talent show asking her if she would like to create a cake for the former Pussycat Dolls birthday.
And Jayne was quick to get her original creative juices flowing, baking a chocolate malteser cake for her.
She said: "They said they had seen my website and liked what they saw and would I be interested.
"I love the show and it's not every day you get the chance to do something like this.
"She was celebrating her birthday in Cardiff as they were having auditions there and they had a surprise birthday party for her."
The cake took a remarkable five hours to make, along with nine packets of maltesers.
"I had to go to Tesco at 11.45pm to get more," she added.
After being delivered the cake and despite the clips from the birthday party not being shown until later this year Jayne, aged 41, is getting used to seeing her handcrafted work in the press.
And thanks to her baking skills, Jayne will also get the chance to experience an X Factor audition show as well.
"It was on the Lorraine show on ITV for about three seconds on Friday," she said.
"They were discussing the best dressed celebrities of the week and they showed Nicole with the cake.
"I haven't seen any of the film of it yet.
"I will be going to see the Birmingham boot camp round so I am looking forward to that."
Given her baking skills are good enough to get a thumbs up from an X Factor judge, it's surprising that Jayne also holds down a full-time job as well at medical tech company Cellnovo in SA1."
She added: "When I got married I wanted to do my own wedding cake, but everywhere was expensive," she said.
"So, I did a course at Swansea Sugarcraft and then I started off just doing little projects for friends and family." Nicole, who found fame with girl group the Pussycat Dolls, hit the headlines last week when it was announced she had split up with Formula One ace Lewis Hamilton.
