CIMLA jumped two places to sixth in division three of the South Wales Association thanks to a four-wicket win at home to Margam, who fell two positions to seventh.
Martin Rees was the star of the Margam innings with 83, with Gareth John (18no), Elwyn Pugh (16) and Luke O'Connor (14) all chipping in as they made 168-7 in their 50 overs.
Imran Pervez took 5-29 and Wayne Thomas 2-25.
Stuart Hornby then held the Cimla reply together with an unbeaten 45, helped by Thomas (32) and Neil Hornby (30), as the home side reached 172-6 in 48.1 overs. Pugh took 4-57.
Porthcawl had their lead at the top cut from 35 to 17 after they lost at home to fourth-placed Merthyr Tydfil. Porthcawl made 162-6 in their 50 overs, Josh Lyddon leading the way with 42 not out.
Merthyr then reached 164-8 in 48 overs, Davies top-scoring with 27 as Tom Davies took 3-47.
Second-from-bottom Pontyberem went down at home to third-placed Maesteg by 54 runs.
Lloyd Wilkshire top-scored with 57 as the Llynfi Valley side were all out for 154 in 49.5 overs.
But Pontyberem never coped with Maesteg's bowlers and had Craig Evans and Richard Evans joint top scorers with 18 as Nathan Carter (6-37) and Jonathan Davies (15-11-15-4) tore through the order.
The Gwendraeth Valley side were all out for 100 in the 47th over.
In the other games in division three, second-placed Briton Ferry Town (137-1) beat visitors Landore (133) by nine wickets, and Drefach (215-7) beat away side Dyffryn (104) by 111 runs.
High-scoring
The match of the day in division four was a high-scoring affair in the Vale of Glamorgan.
Second-placed Llantwit Major Cavaliers drew with leaders Pwll in a game that saw 489 runs scored.
Pwll were all out for 270 in 49.1 overs, openers Craig Howells (40) and Jonathan George (59, nine fours) giving them a great start.
David Williams (59, 12 fours) and Chris Rowlands (33) kept up the good work against James Snelson (3-39) and Gareth Hughes (3-46).
Hughes (52no) then kept the Pwll attack at bay to ensure a draw on 219-8 as Rhodri Lewis (4-66) and David Richards (2-49) got among the wickets.
Baglan stay third and closed the gap on the Cavaliers to two points after beating Neath III by eight wickets.
Nathan Warlow hit 32 as Neath were bowled out for 147 in 48.1 overs.
Lee Williams took 4-47 and then hit an unbeaten 59 that contained 10 fours and a six, assisted by Jonathan Lewis's 50 not out, as the hosts reached 151-2 in the 38th over. Elliott Pearn took 2-29.
In an exciting low-scoring game at Kidwelly, the hosts beat Felinfoel by three runs.
Kidwelly's batsmen never got to grips with Stuart Parmenter (5-20) and Jonathan Evans (4-28), Dan Brown their top scorer with 18.
But Felinfoel's batsmen also struggled and despite contributions from Gareth Smith (23), Nick Jones (23) and Mark Thomas (15), they slumped to 93 all out in the 35th over.
Dean Hollands took 4-19, Stewart Mills 2-27 and Martin Jarvis 2-20.
As a result the teams swapped places, leaving Kidwelly third from bottom and Felinfoel one from last.
In the other game in division four, bottom side Llandarcy (101) lost at home to Llandeilo (170-6) by 69 runs.
