YOUNG pace bowler Luke Brown has been drafted into the Mumbles side for tomorrow's South Wales Premier Cricket League clash with Pontar- ddulais at Marespool.

The 18-year-old took four wickets against Dafen in last Sunday's surprise Welsh Cup defeat and is rewarded with his first call-up to the senior team this season.

The Seasiders make two changes to the starting XI beaten by title rivals Ynysygerwn last Saturday.

All-rounder Dan Lewis-Williams and middle order batsman Ieuan Rosser are unavailable so Brown and Will Owen — depending on county commitments — are named in the starting XI.

Mumbles also include a couple of other talented youngsters in Matthew Shepherd, the grandson of Glamorgan great Don, and top-order batsman Aneurin Donald, who struck his maiden Premier League century last Saturday.

Port Talbot Town take on defending champions Ammanford, who have found themselves in the bottom two after a disappointing run of results.

The Pirates make one change from last week's win over Bridgend Town with Glamorgan's hard-hitting batsman Chris Cooke coming in to replace Luke Gosby.

Former skipper Dan Cherry is again unavailable because of work commitments, but Port Talbot hope to have opening bowler Richard Edwards back from injury by the end of the month.

Ammanford are waiting to hear whether Glamorgan's Andrew Salter will be available.

Bottom club Swansea are set to be bolstered for their clash with Bridgend at St Helen's.

Jonathan Hubschmid, Gareth Hayden and Josh Hughes are available after missing last weekend's defeat to Sully, while Charlie Lowen is set to make his first appearance of the campaign after returning from his studies at Loughborough University.

Like the rest of the Premier League sides, Swansea are waiting on whether their allocated county player will be allowed to feature.

Influential all-rounder Nick James was among the Glamorgan contingent bowling in the nets for the Champions Trophy sides at the Swalec Stadium last weekend, while Stewart Walters is currently in Championship action in Canterbury.

Swansea's batting has been a major concern this season, although Ashley Pass, with an unbeaten century (106no), and South African Dwayne Batchelor (84no) were in the runs in their nine-wicket Welsh Cup win over Skewen on Sunday.

Bridgend include teenage spinner Sam Pearce, who made his Glamorgan Second XI debut against Somerset this week.

Third-placed Ynysygerwn are likely to be without all-rounder John Glover, who has a finger injury, for their home match against Newport, while leaders Sully Centurions take on Cardiff.

Meanwhile, Pontarddulais have signed up to a scheme with the England and Wales Cricket Board to hold a open day to coincide with this summer's Ashes Test series. The day will take place on Sunday, July 14, to coincide with the final day of the first Test.

"Hopefully, there will be a cup match on at the club if we get through and we will have some games for the children — a bouncy castle and some food," said spokesman John Evans, who has a 50-year association with the club.

Clubs who already have a Sky Sports subscription that host an open day will get £140 from the ECB towards their monthly payment, while those new to Sky will be offered an offer featuring a six-month break clause.

"The club open day is great for us," added Evans. "Hopefully it will get a few extra people in and perhaps a few new members, which would be nice."

Former England captain Mike Gatting, who is the ECB manager director of cricket partnerships, said: "This is not just a fantastic way to watch what I am sure will be a fantastic Ashes, but also a great way for clubs to cement their places within the community."

To sign up your club for an open day and for more information on the benefits and support, visit www.ecb.co.uk/clubopendays. A full list of clubs taking part will be put on the ECB website in July.
