A TEACHER is calling for patrols around Llanelli to pick up syringes after finding one on a popular walkway today.
Phil Rudd made the discovery on the short walk from his home in Als Street to Asda.
"On the walkway there was a syringe on the floor in amongst rubbish," he said.
"I was very concerned. There is a known drug problem in the Llanelli area and I think there should be a patrol going around picking up needles, especially on weekends when there are kids around."
Mr Rudd, who teaches at Glan y Mor School in Burry Port and who has a 14 year-old son, contacted Carmarthenshire County Council's out-of-hours Careline office.
A spokesman said highways officials were called out to deal with it.
