Police are appealing for witnesses to a bank holiday road smash which claimed the life of a driver and left his passenger in hospital with serious injuries.
The collision happened on the A4229 Pyle Road, at the junction with Newton-Nottage roundabout near Porthcawl.
Police say a silver Honda Civic Type and a red Kia Sorento collided just before 10am today - the driver of the Honda died from his injuries while his passenger is currently in Princess of Wales Hospital, Bridgend, with serious injuries.
A man and woman travelling in the Kia, together with their 6 year-old-son, suffered minor injuries.
The road was closed for much of the day while the emergency services dealt with the incident, and local diversions were in place.
South Wales Police are urging anyone who was in the area at the time of the collision to come forward.
