PETER Bowen was in the money when his Pension Plan paid dividends at Ffos Las today.
The nine-year-old was an easy winner of the Parker Plant Eisteddfod Handicap Hurdle, the richest race of the day at the Carmarthenshire course.
Trained in Haverfordwest by Bowen, Pension Plan was sent off a 7-1 chance for the three-mile contest.
But once he took charge at the ninth flight, there was never much doubt about the outcome and he drew clear on the run-in to score by 11 lengths.
Bowen was landing a double, having earlier been on the mark in the two-mile handicap chase courtesy of Dineur.
There was more Welsh success as Mr Gee Jay, trained by Nigel Twiston-Davies, won the three-mile handicap
chase.
The 7-1 shot took over at the second-last fence and pulled right away from the field, eventually easing past the post nine lengths in front of the 9-2 favourite Flanagan.
