A MAN and his father have gone on trial accused of assaulting a 38-year-old man they suspected of being in a relationship with his 17-year-old daughter.

Kenneth O'Keefe senior, 71, and his son, also called Kenneth O'Keefe, both deny using a baseball bat each to assault Neil Morgan.

The pair, both of Crimson Avenue, Port Talbot, admit going to Mr Morgan's house to confront him about his supposed relationship with O'Keefe's junior's daughter, Georgia Grace, then aged 17.

Mr Morgan had become friends with Miss Grace, now 18, on Facebook but denies the pair met in person.

The prosecution allege O'Keefe junior, 38, was "furious" after finding out about the alleged relationship between his daughter and Mr Morgan, who had been in the year above him at school.

O'Keefe senior, later told police a series of "filthy" text messages from Mr Morgan were found on Miss Grace's phone.

Both men admit going to his house to warn him to stay away from Miss Grace but deny a charge of causing grievous bodily harm with intent and an alternative of grievous bodily harm, saying they were acting in self-defence after Mr Morgan attacked them.

Mr Morgan was left with a broken ankle and with reduced hearing of 50 per cent in his left ear after the alleged attack on November 4, 2011.

Mr Morgan told the jury O'Keefe senior hit him six or seven times on his ankle after threatening to break his legs and said both men had hit him repeatedly on his head and body and threatened to return to his home to "finish him off".

O'Keefe senior denies possessing an offensive weapon but his son has already admitted the same charge.

The trial, at Swansea Crown Court, continues.
