CARMARTHEN is braced for a cold snap, with heavy snow forecast for the area from early Friday morning.
The Met Office has released an amber warning across Wales, with snow set to fall from late Thursday night into the early hours of Friday morning.
Journal weatherman John Powell said: "At present, snow showers are already affecting parts of Wales, some of them on the heavy side, but it's overnight Thursday night and into Friday when we will see the main band of snow sweep in.
"Expect serious disruption from snowfall during Friday daytime across a huge swathe of the UK, with Wales and the Midlands likely to see most problems.
"At lower levels, 2 to 5 inches possible, with higher ground seeing 6 to 9 inches, perhaps more during the daytime. Therefore, disruption is inevitable. The continuation of frost activity and ice issues will also occur."
