POLICE investigating an incident at the Swansea City match against Mancherster United when a flare was fired have arrested a teenager.
The 19-year-old man was arrested in the Oldham area on suspicion of being in possession of a flare at a sporting event and has been released on police bail pending further investigations.
South Wales Police launched an investigation after the incident, which occured at the end of the Liberty Stadium match on Sunday, December 23.
Officers appealed for information after a flare was discharged from the crowd in the Manchester United end of the ground.
Detective Inspector Darren George of Swansea Central CID said "This was a totally irresponsible act, which could potentially have resulted in far more serious consequences."
Mr George also thanked members of the public who came forward with information which enabled officers to make an arrest.
Officers are continuing to appeal to anyone who was at the game and who witnessed the incident to contact 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
