SWANSEA City could have as many as three Spanish internationals on their books by the end of next month after Chico Flores was tipped for a call-up.
Spain's World Cup- winning manager Vicente del Bosque was at Goodison Park to watch Swansea draw 0-0 with Everton on Saturday, having already suggested that Michu will be given a first cap in Spain's friendly with Uruguay on February 6.
Del Bosque had made the trip to Merseyside in order to assess the Swans' top-scorer, though it had been suggested the former Real Madrid boss was also keen to cast his eye over Flores.
And with the pony-tailed centre-back producing an excellent display alongside Ashley Williams to repel heavy Everton pressure, Swansea midfielder Jonathan de Guzman believes del Bosque will have been impressed.
"We all know Spain have a great squad but I think, over the whole season, Chico has done well and put himself on the map," he said.
"He (del Bosque) came here to watch Michu but also we have Chico, Angel Rangel and Pablo Hernandez (who already has four Spain caps). I think they're all good players but the Spain squad is full of great players too.
"I think Chico gave a great performance and I think Spain's national coach acknowledged that."
This was a sentiment shared by Rangel, who played in midfield against Everton but has spent the majority of the season alongside Flores and Williams in the Swansea back four.
"They are a great partnership and you can compare them with the top ones in the Premier League," said Rangel.
"The understanding is very good and you wouldn't have thought so because sometimes the language can be a problem, but they can understand very well.
"They are the heart of the defence and the leaders of the team at the moment — if they are playing well the team feels it. The partnership at the middle is great."
