CROSS Keys produced a fine performance to gain victory over Llanelli, who had not lost in the league since early October.

The result pushed Llanelli down to fifth in the Premiership, with Keys climbing to third.

Nathan Williams put Keys in front in the second minute when he gathered a kick to score in the corner.

Llanelli's Owen Williams and Keys' Dorian Jones swapped kicks to leave the home side 11-6 up, but the hosts pulled further clear when they scored their second try in the 33rd minute through Nathan Trowbridge.

Jones added the conversion.

Williams kept the visitors in the hunt by landing two more penalties before the break.

Llanelli were handed a great opportunity to get back into the contest after the interval when Keys had two players — Richard Cornock and Danny Hodge — sent to the sin-bin within a minute of each other.

But Keys battled valiantly during the period when they had just 13 men on the field and Llanelli failed to take anything from their numerical advantage.

Shortly after the hour mark, the home side produced a series of drives from line-outs and — after Llanelli had conceded a number of infringements — the referee awarded a penalty try.

Steffan Jones added the extras.

Llanelli battled back in the closing minutes.

Their first try came from a high kick, with Nathan Hart claiming the score. And in injury time, Hart got his second try to earn his side a losing bonus point. Jonny Lewis converted.

Cross Keys : Tries: N. Williams, N. Trowbridge, pen try. Cons: D. Jones, S, Jones. Pens: D. Jones (2). Drop-goal: D. Jones.
