NEW grants for postgraduate teacher training students have been announced.
Education Minister Leighton Andrews has said Welsh Government incentive grants for courses for the 2013/14 academic year will be available for mathematics, physics, chemistry, modern foreign languages, ICT and Welsh teaching students.
The amounts are variable depending on the degree qualifications of students.
Grants are also available for both secondary and primary level entrants. Mr Andrews said: "Our approach targets specific priority postgraduate secondary subjects, supports recruitment of the best graduates, including those with first class degrees outside the key priority subjects while also recognising the benefits of recruiting mathematics, English and Welsh specialists into primary to improve literacy and numeracy.
"This decision endorses our approach of supporting Welsh students to train to teach in Wales."
