A GREAT grandmother has been left devastated after her pet donkey was stolen from a Swansea farm.
Catherine Jenkins is appealing for anyone to come forward who may have information relating to the disappearance of her 10-year-old donkey, Dave.
The 61-year-old was bought the animal as a gift by a friend when it was just six months old.
A police investigation has now been launched following the theft which took place between 5pm on Friday, November 30 and 10am on Saturday, December 1.
Mrs Jenkins contacted police immediately after discovering Dave had been taken from Keeper's Lodge Farm in Waunarlwydd and said: "We were hoping someone had taken him as a prank.
"He is worth a couple of hundred pounds but to me he is worth millions.
"He was a Christmas present, it's what every woman wants."
Mrs Jenkins also told friends as soon as she knew her donkey had been taken and news began to spread.
She said: "Within minutes everybody's phones were going.
"He went missing on the Saturday morning and I phoned a couple of my friends. They put it online and within minutes people at the stables were getting messages about the stolen donkey."
The pensioner has nine grandchildren who she said were very fond of Dave and added: "He was a big softy.
"His trouble was he was too friendly."
A spokesman for South Wales Police said: "The animal was stolen between 5pm on November 30 and 10am on December 1.
"We are investigating the theft of a donkey between those dates.
"He is a 10-year-old with white and black patches."

A spokesman for UK charity The Donkey Sanctuary said: "From time to time thieves target stables and fields in order to steal donkeys and equipment. "The Donkey Sanctuary is able to assist owners in the prevention of crime by giving advice on security of premises."
