A SWANSEA-based AM says he's disappointed that Wales has missed out on hosting the opening stage of the Tour de France.
Peter Black, Welsh Liberal Democrats Heritage spokesman, said while he was pleased Yorkshire had won the honour it would mean Wales would have to wait a further five years before it could place host to the prestigious road race.
The title was clinched this year by Bradley Wiggins — who was the first Brit to win the prize.
Mr Black said: "Although I am pleased for Yorkshire, it is disappointing that Wales has not been successful this time."
He added a stage through the Brecon Beacons would be spectacular.
