Leeds United boss Neil Warnock says he is in talks with Swansea City over a permanent deal for Alan Tate.
The 30-year-old's stint with the Whites is set to come to an end at the start of the January transfer window, and the club is expected to make a bid in the region of £250,000 for the defender.
Following United's 2-0 win over Ipswich Town, Warnock told The Yorkshire Evening Post that discussions are also underway over Jerome Thomas and Michael Tonge.
He said: "We've been in touch with the clubs of all the loan players. You have to start conversations. With Michael Tonge we've made initial enquiries and we've done the same with Jerome. We've spoken to Swansea about Tate too.
"I've also given the club one or two names regarding another striker. We need to put pressure on Luciano Becchio in case he has a period where he's not himself, and we need a top-class striker to take us into the second half of the season in a positive way."
Tate has two-and-a-half years on his Swansea contract and is due a testimonial next season.
But the centre-back made just four appearances for the Swans at the start of the season, largely as a result of injury and Chico Flores' three-match ban.
Laudrup previously admitted he couldn't say for certain whether Alan Tate will return to Swansea City.
"I just heard a couple of days before Alan left that Leeds was a possibility, and he said he wanted to go and play some games.
"I agreed with him that he needs to play, 100 per cent.
"We have five players in his position now that Kyle (Bartley) is back - two of them can play, one can sit on the bench and then two more will be in the stand - so I think it was a good decision by Alan to go and play some football.
"Now we will see what happens, but whether it is going to be a permanent deal depends on a lot of factors.
"You never know what can happen here - we have seen already this season that we can have problems and suddenly be down to only two centre-backs.
"I really don't know what will happen - let's see."
