A NEATH AM has welcomed the opening of a new clinic for IVF treatment.
Gwenda Thomas said she was pleased the new service in Neath Port Talbot Hospital is now up and running after being awarded a licence from the Human Fertilisation and Embryology Authority.
Patients started to stream through the doors of the outpatient clinics at the centre as soon as the building work was finished, ensuring they are ready to start their clinical treatment now the licence is in place.
The team sees a range of people including those who are at risk of suffering infertility, such as those who have undergone chemotherapy or radiotherapy.
Mrs Thomas said the service would help many people across the area.
She said: "I welcome the provision of this new service for my constituency and for the rest of South Wales. When people are going through treatments such as these, it will be reassuring for them to know that they can now be treated in Wales."
