THREE attempted robberies on women across Swansea are being linked to a robbery of a 38-year- old on Wednesday.
Police investigating the August 7 incident, in which a woman's handbag was stolen by a motorcycle rider and passenger, said they believe a further three similar incidents are linked.
The 38-year-old was walking on Princess Way, near the Cross Keys pub at 8.45pm when her cream-coloured handbag was taken.
It contained a quantity of cash, driving licence, passport, and credit cards.
The bike, believed to be a dark-coloured moped was then seen to drive off down Princess Way in the direction of York Street.
Descriptions of the suspect only reveal that they were both wearing light-coloured crash helmets.
Now officers in the city are investigating similar incidents across the wider area, after three attempted robberies.
At around 8.30pm on the same night, a 35-year-old woman was standing at Woodfield Street, Morriston, opposite Iceland, when she was targeted.
"She managed to keep hold of her bag.
On Thursday, August 8, further incidents of attempted robbery happened in the city.
At 8.50pm a 19-year-old woman was standing near the Yates pub on Caer Street when she was targeted, while at 9.35pm another victim, aged 17, was walking on New Cut Road when someone tried to take her bag.
They both also managed to keep hold of their possessions.
Detective sergeant Steve Daniels of Swansea CID said: "The four incidents are almost identical with females carrying bags or purses and apparently being targeted.
"The incidents at Woodfield Street, Caer Street and New Cut Road were all attempted robberies where the victims managed to hold on to their property.
"We are appealing to any witnesses or anyone with information about these incidents to contact the police as those responsible need to be apprehended."
Detective constable Jessica Mazorriaga, of Swansea Central CID, previously urged witnesses to come forward in relation to the robbery, adding: "This incident has happened right in the middle of the city centre and in front of one the busiest pubs in the area."
Anyone with information should contact Swansea Central CID on 01792 450618 or 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
