GARETH Rees followed up his century against Hampshire with an unbeaten 51 against Lancashire as Glamorgan reached 108-1 at lunch on day one of their LV= County Championship Division Two clash at Old Trafford.
Llanelli-born opener Rees, making only his second appearance of the season, was joined by Murray Goodwin (31 not out) at the crease as Glamorgan made a solid start to the match.
The Welsh county elected to bat after winning the toss, and the only batsman to fall on the opening morning was Will Bragg, who was caught by Ashwell Prince off the bowling of Simon Kerrigan for 24.
Glamorgan were forced into a number of changes from last week's defeat to Hampshire.
New Zealander Nathan McCullum - signed for the Twenty20 campaign - was been given special dispensation to replace Marcus North, who is unavailable because of a family bereavement.
Australian seamer Michael Hogan was rested, while Will Owen and Mike Reed both sustained injuries against Hampshire, leaving Graham Wagg, John Glover and Alex Jones to form the pace attack.
Chris Cooke is playing his first Championship match in place of Stewart Walters, while Will Bragg returns after injury to open ahead of Ben Wright.
