DRAMATIC footage appearing to show former Ospreys star Gavin Henson being punched to the floor by a team-mate has emerged online.

The video, which can be seen on the Evening Post's website, appears to show a group of Bath RFC players in a pub in the city on Wednesday night.

An argument breaks out between two men in the Pig and Fiddle, reportedly Henson, who recently signed for the club, and another member of the squad, 24-year-old Carl Fearns.

The footage shows one man leaning over and landing a right hook on the other's face.

Bath Rugby, which signed Grand Slam winner Henson this summer, has confirmed it is investigating the incident, which apparently left the 31-year-old international out cold on the floor of the pub.

Police received a call that evening reporting "aggressive behaviour" in the pub, but while the caller was on the line the group left the premises so officers were no longer required to attend.

Eye-witnesses have said the behaviour they witnessed was "disgusting".

One has claimed that former Ospreys star Henson was knocked out cold by the punch, which came after his fellow players had told him to calm down in the pub.

He said: "Henson went out like a light for about five minutes. He just lay there like a lump, right on the floor."

The Pig and Fiddle has declined to comment on the matter.

Bath Rugby's chief executive Nick Blofeld said: "We are speaking to all those involved to clarify the situation. When we have all the facts, we will make any appropriate statement."

The club later issued a statement saying: "Bath Rugby can confirm there was a minor incident in the city centre on Wednesday night involving a few members of the playing squad. The club are investigating the matter as a priority and will only make a statement when further information is available."

The reported fight is the latest in a series of off-the-field incidents which have blighted the controversial star's career.

In 2005, he was forced to apologise after making negative comments about his team- mates and the Lions tour to New Zealand.

In 2007 he was accused of disorderly conduct after 'rowdy' behaviour on a train from London to Cardiff.

Two years later he was again in trouble after he was cautioned over an assault in Cardiff city centre.

And last April he was sacked by Cardiff Blues after he threw ice cubes at passengers on a flight back from a match in Glasgow.

Mr Blofeld had stressed that Henson had become a "more settled and mature person" during his time with the club.
