SWANSEA City face competition from mega-rich Monaco in their bid to sign Lyon striker Bafetimbi Gomis.
Lyon owner Jean-Michel Aulas says he is willing to sell French international Gomis, who has been linked with an £8 million move to the Swans.
But Michael Laudrup's side could be gazumped by newly-promoted Ligue 1 side Monaco, who are in the midst of an outlandish spending spree.
Bankrolled by Russian billionaire Dmitry Rybolovlev, the Principality club have signed Radamel Falcao from Atletico Madrid for around £50 million, as well as Joao Moutinho, James Rodriguez, Ricardo Carvalho and Eric Abidal.
As well as financial incentives, Gomis's international prospects are believed to have a major bearing on his decision.
Monaco will undoubtedly be able to offer him a more lucrative deal than Swansea or Cardiff, who have also been touted as potential suitors for the 27-year-old.
But with Gomis desperate to secure a place in the French squad for next summer's World Cup, reports in France suggest he would favour a transfer to another Ligue 1 club.
