LIONS centre Jamie Roberts is a "grave doubt" for the first Test against Australia in Brisbane on Saturday. The 26-year-old Wales international left the field with a leg injury in the 47-17 win over New South Wales Waratahs. He now faces a struggle to make the starting line-up for the series opener at the Suncorp Stadium. "Jamie is a grave doubt for this week — there is no doubt about that," said Lions team doctor James Robson. "You only had to see how much discomfort he was in at the weekend. However, further assessment will be made later in the week as to his availability going forward." There is better news on George North after an initial bulletin gave him less than a 50-50 chance of playing. The Wales wing, whose ability to cross the gain-line makes him a key part of Warren Gatland's attacking strategy, is encouraging hopes he could feature this weekend, but Tommy Bowe remains a major doubt after cracking a bone in his hand. Roberts' absence will put Jonathan Davies in pole position for a cap after his outstanding display against the Waratahs.
