AT Swansea Bay, 11 handicapper Martin Thomas won the Scratch Knockout Qualifier with an excellent net score of six under par 66.
Thomas finished four ahead of current course record holder Ben Hinchey, a former club champion at the Bay.
It was Hinchey's superb two-under par gross round which was the best of the day and included two eagles on the par four 8 and par five 16 as well as two other birdies which rectified a four over par position after seven holes.
Meanwhile, the club stableford events at the Bay were won by Derek Evans and David Dalling with 42 and 41 points respectively.
At Glynneath, the winner of the Major Snook Trophy was five-handicapper Matthew Davies who shot a level par round for a fine 41 points, beating 27 handicapper Brain James — who shot 40 points — by one point. Cameron Howells-Jones (11) finished in third with 39 points, beating Kris Richards (21) on the back nine.
At the Clyne Captains Charity Day in aid of Macmillan Cancer Support the club captains' team of David Millership, Diana Jones, Wendy Harris and Louie Davies won with 101 points. The event raised a total of £5,695 for the charity.
Former Swansea and Wales fly-half Malcolm Dacey has been named as Morriston's club captain this year.
