POLICE are appealing for help after an early-morning knife-point robbery of a taxi driver.
The 32-year-old victim was attacked after picking up two men in Shelone Road, Briton Ferry, just before 3.45am on Saturday.
He dropped them off at the junction of Gardeners Lane and Meadow Road in Melin but the men then approached the driver's door of the Mercedes car and tried to drag the cabbie out, threatening him with a knife and demanding his takings.
The taxi driver handed over the money and was then assaulted by the men before they fled the scene.
South Wales Police acting detective inspector Ricky Price said: "This was a very frightening experience for this gentleman who was only doing his job.
"Although he was assaulted by the two men he was not, thankfully, seriously injured.
"Whist I am aware that this incident has happened during the early hours of the morning, there could well have been somebody who was out and about and who witnessed the incident or may have relevant information — I am appealing for them to come forward."
Police have released descriptions of two men they want to talk to in relation to the incident.
The first is described as white, aged 27 to 32, around 5ft 7in or 5ft 8in tall and of a skinny-to-medium build, with short ginger hair and stubble. He spoke with a Midlands accent, and was wearing a light blue Adidas T-shirt and dark blue jeans.
The second is described as white, in his late 20s or early 30s, around 5ft 10in tall and of a skinny build, and was clean shaven.
He was wearing a black beanie hat with a white Bench logo on it, a red hooded top with black writing running down the left front side down, blue jeans, and white trainers. He was carrying a Bargain Booze carrier bag.
Police are urging anyone with information about the incident to come forward.
