FAR-RIGHT group activists from the National Front will be targeting Swansea with leaflets over the weekend. They are expected to be carrying pamphlets throughout the city centre during the course of this morning. Police confirmed they were aware of the plans. On the South Wales National Front Facebook page, the plans to leaflet the city were revealed. It said: "Another leafleting session this weekend in the Swansea area, anyone wanting to help out can message the page for details." Superintendent Phil Davies, of Swansea Central Police Station, said: "The police have a responsibility to facilitate lawful demonstration. "We are aware of the planned activity in Swansea today and, as you would expect, officers will be on duty to safeguard the right of the general public to go about their normal business, and to ensure local business activities are not disrupted." When a white pride rally was staged in Swansea in March it passed-off incident free. Around 60 campaigners arrived in the city for the event but were met by a counter-demonstration of some 400 anti-fascist campaigners. The two sides came face to face outside the National Waterfront Museum, although the two groups were kept apart behind barriers. For an hour they exchanged chants before the white pride marchers were placed on buses and driven away from the scene. Tahar Idris, director of the Swansea Bay Racial Equality Council, at the time, said: "The turn out here today sends out a clear message that people trying to spread hate and division are not welcome in the city."
