THE television cameras have returned to the streets of Swansea to document the homeless for a second time.

A series of three programmes looking at life for those living rough in our city, Swansea Living on the Streets, hit the screens last September.

Filmmaker Chris Rushton caused a bit of a stir by shining  alight on a problem that many thought only existed in large cities such as London or Liverpool.

However, with the number of homeless people in the UK soaring due to the harsh financial climate and changes to the benefit system, it is a problem which now affects all areas.

A spokeswoman for the series said: "The cameras return to Swansea's streets to follow the desperate and moving stories of the homeless.

"We try and find out what has changed in the city which boasts the highest numbers of homeless people in Wales."

Mr Rushton added: "I filmed it over last winter, following the homeless sleeping out in some of the harshest conditions on record.

"There was even a 72-year-old out on the streets in the freezing cold."

Swansea: Back on the Streets is on BBC One Wales on Wednesday at 10.35pm.
