SWANSEA University's new campus will be something to be proud of, a Welsh MEP has said.
Plaid's Jill Evans visited the site of the Science and Innovation campus, which will open to students in 2015.
The first phase of the development will cost around £250 million, with the whole project expecting to cost around £400 million: £90 million of the funding will come from the European Investment Bank.
Mrs Evans also spent time finding out more about the about the leadership and development programme for small businesses.
"It's great to see the expansion plans for Swansea University," she said.
"Some 4,000 direct jobs will be created during the construction phase, with a further 6,000 indirect jobs supported in the wider economy as a result. This will be a huge boost for the economy of the Wales."
She added: "I was very impressed by the way European grants are being used to support small businesses and help them to grow. In a short time it has led to an average increase of over two jobs per business and an average increase in annual turnover of 26per cent.
"We are very proud of the pioneering work being done in Swansea and I look forward to continuing to work with them to maximise the EU funding coming to Wales and promote their incredible achievements."
