WE aren't known as the land of song for nothing.
And one teenager will be hoping to impress millions of TV viewers on Saturday night when she brings a bit of the Dulais Valley to the nation.
Seven Sisters's Bronwen Lewis will be on the BBC's flagship singing contest, The Voice.
The talented nineteen-year-old will be hoping to wow the judges – including our very own musical legend Sir Tom Jones – with her rendition of Fields of Gold, which she sung in Welsh.
The former Ysgol Gyfun Ystalyfera pupil said: "It was off my own back really. I was watching the last series and at the end I thought I would go for it.
"I didn't tell anyone as I didn't think there was any point.
"I have always been into the arts and I was always brought up around music.
"My dad, uncle and grandad all sing in choirs.
"My parents don't speak Welsh but I went to the Welsh school.
"I don't think Welsh has been sung on The Voice before, it gives me a twist."
Bronwen wasn't able to reveal to the Evening Post if one of the judges – made up of pop star Jessie J, Black Eyed Peas frontman Will.i.am, The Script's Danny O'Donoghue and the voice himself Sir Tom Jones – picked her for the next round of the show, but she was enthused by the way she was treated.
"I think there is a massive difference between this and other talent shows," Bronwen, who is studying art at St Martins College in London, said.
"They were all really supportive and they aren't looking for someone in a particular category.
"With other shows they have an idea about what they want.
"Saturday is going to be a bit nervewracking.
"I am in London at the moment but will be heading home to watch it with all my family and friends.
"It will be nice to be back home for it."
Dad Geraint added: "There is a bit of trepidation but it should be good.
"She has always been talented with the arts and we facilitated that.
"When she was a little girl she was always playing on the piano.
"To be honest it was a great process, they really looked after her, all the coaches were excellent."
Last month Glynneath's 18-year-old Elise Evans also appeared on the show and chose to work with Sir Tom in the next stage of it.
The Voice will be shown on BBC1 this Saturday at 8.05pm.
