A man accused of the abduction and murder of April Jones had child pornography on his computer and had an interest in child murder cases, a court has heard.
Mark Bridger, 47, from Ceinws, Machynlleth, Powys, denies abducting and murdering April, and intending to pervert the course of justice.
Prosecutors today told his trial at Mold Crown Court his actions were sexually motivated, and said the blood of April and bone fragments were found at Mr Bridger's home.
Prosecutor Elwen Evans QC said blood found at his home matched the five-year-old's DNA.
The jury heard Mr Bridger undertook an "extensive clean-up operation" at his home which included the disposal of April's body and her clothes.
However, some evidence remained. Blood found in the living room, hallway and bathroom matched April's DNA, the jury was told.
Ms Evans told the court bone fragments were found, and said the view of experts was bone fragments found in fire ashes at Mr Bridger's home were consistent with bone fragments from a juvenile human skull.
Police found child pornography and photos of raped and murdered children including Holly Wells and Jessica Chapman, the Soham murder victims, on Mr Bridger's laptop computer, the jury was told.
Search terms used on his computer included "naked young five year old girls" and "nudism five-year-old", the court heard.
The jury of nine women and three men was told Mr Bridger accepts he "probably killed" April by running her over, but then can't remember what happened due to drink and adrenaline.
Ms Evans said: "He has played a cruel game in pretending not to know what he has done to her and with her. It is a game to try and save himself."
April went missing near her home in Machynlleth on October 1 and has never been found.
The prosecution's opening speech is expected to continue into Wednesday.
The jury will to go to Machynlleth on Thursday to visit various sites.
The trial continues.
