SWANSEA University is the new sponsor of the Dylan Thomas Prize, organisers have announced.

And the £30,000 prize is calling for entries for the award, which aims to recognise the best literary work produced by an author under 30.

Chairman of the prize, Peter Stead, said: "This prize has a terrific record of uncovering and fostering new talent whilst being a true grassroots literary award.

"We take considerable pride in the way the prize takes the shortlisted authors into schools and colleges in Wales during the award week, bridging the gap between highly talented young writers from around the world and their even younger readers.

"The message they proclaim to their young audiences is go thou and do likewise, and it is that which has made the Dylan Thomas Prize the young people's own prize."

The deadline for entries is June 28, with the winner being named in November.
