THE South Wales Police call centre has been named best emergency control room team of the year at UK-wide awards.
The force's Public Services Centre (PSC) picked up the accolade at the Call Centre Management Association Awards, which recognise best practice in contact centres.
South Wales Police chief inspector Alun Morgan welcomed the announcement.
He said: "To be named as the emergency control room team of the year is a fitting tribute for our staff, our team, who have all worked incredibly hard to give the public the best service possible."
The PSC was launched last April after the force centralised its call handing from Swansea, Pontypridd and Cardiff into a new Bridgend base.
The team receives around 15,000 emergency 999 calls per month.
