SWANSEA City slumped to their third straight Premier League defeat as Spurs won 2-1 at the Liberty.

Michael Laudrup's side were 2-0 behind inside 21 minutes as Jan Vertonghen and Gareth Bale struck.

Vertonghen opened the scoring in the seventh minute, exchanging passes with Bale before controlling superbly and finishing past Michel Vorm.

Then midway through the first period, Bale ran on to a ball from Mousa Dembele following a mistake by Pablo Hernandez and fired into the corner.

Michu missed a first half header, while Nathan Dyer send Dwight Tiendalli's cross thudding against the bar as Swansea looked for a way back into the game.

Swansea's top scorer again nodded off target after the break before heading past Brad Friedal to get the hosts back into the game.

Laudrup's men pushed for an equaliser in the closing stages when Spurs sat back.

But they were unable to score another goal, suffering a loss that makes this their worst run of form this season.
