A FORMER Swansea University student has been voted as chairman of Young Labour.

Simon Darvill, who works for Geraint Davies MP for Swansea West, said his campaign had centred around rejuvenating young Labour.

Mr Darvill, who is originally from Upminster on the outskirts of London, came to Swansea to study politics. He was also part of Mr Davies's 2010 parliamentary campaign.

He said: "I am really grateful for all the help and support I have received from members of Swansea Labour Party, they got me move involved in the Labour movement, and became my family. I would especially like to thank Geraint Davies who has helped get so many more young people involved in the Labour party.

"If the Labour party does not have young people involved it will not continue to survive, and Labour needs to be attracting more people to get involved in the political process."
