POLICE investigating a collision which claimed the life of a 72-year-old pedestrian are renewing an appeal for help from the public.

John Gwyn Edwards died outside Cwmgors rugby club in Gwaun-cae-Gurwen after an incident involving a blue Vauxhall Corsa car.
The 19 year-old driver of the  Corsa and the 25 year-old  driver of a black Proton car have both been arrested and released on police bail pending further enquiries. The collision happened around 4:20pm on Wednesday, November 14, on Brynamman Road, and police are re-appealing for anyone who witnessed the incident — or anyone who saw either car being driven in the village in the minutes beforehand — to come forward.

Officers are also urging any residents or businesses with CCTV cameras to check whether they have footage of the vehicles.

South Wales Police roads policing inspector Carwyn Evans said: "Any information, no matter how small, could prove vastly important to our ongoing investigation."The two cars drove through this small community for at least two miles before the collision occurred, and other road users and residents may remember seeing them."The Proton hatchback in particular is very distinctive, and had silver stripes over its bonnet and boot."I also ask any residents who have private CCTV cameras that cover the road to get in touch."
