POLICE are appealing for information after a raider broke into the house of a 91-year-old woman and stole her handbag from her bedroom as she slept.
Detectives have condemned the incident as a "despicable crime" and are urging people to come forward to help catch the culprit.
The victim was asleep at her home in Manselton, Swansea, when the burglar broke in sometime between 11.15pm on Saturday and 2.15am on Sunday.
South Wales Police detective constable Emma Hughes of Swansea CID said: "This is a despicable crime against a 91-year-old lady while she slept in her home.
"Her handbag and its contents have been stolen from the bedroom as well as a quantity of medication.
"I am appealing to anyone who has information about this crime to come forward.
"We would also ask anyone who has found a black handbag or its contents in the area to contact the police."
