MUMBLES Yacht Club is preparing for another full and exciting sailing and windsurfing training programme.
Over the last few years, Mumbles YC has successfully run the Royal Yachting Association (RYA) OnBoard programme, which provides opportunities for local primary and secondary school children to learn to sail and windsurf in a safe, fun and friendly environment.
This year sees the launch of OnBoard Windsurfing on a Monday early evening and Saturday morning with ace instructor Vic, an experienced and committed member of the Mumbles YC team.
Mumbles YC also provides a comprehensive sail training programme for juniors and adults, and a competitive racing circuit, as well as a thriving social scene.
Cruiser, dinghy, catamaran and youth sailing/racing takes place every weekend during the spring, summer and autumn, with additional evening sailing during summer weekdays.
The club also runs a well attended winter series between October and March, with sailing/racing every other weekend.
Having many experienced and highly qualified race/safety officers, as well as a large and keen support team, Mumbles has been a popular choice for world and national championships and weekend regattas.
The club has many RYA qualified sailing instructors and courses at many levels are available throughout the year.
The Oppie RYA courses for children have been especially successful. Various training courses are also available for adults of all levels.
The clubhouse provides extensive facilities, including free wifi. A large bar area is open seven days a week all year round, providing the perfect spot to watch and discuss the sailing with its excellent views over the bay.
