A FACEBOOK page which encouraged Neath Port Talbot women to post derogatory remarks anonymously has been taken down.
The page, Spotted Sluts Neath Port Talbot, was removed from the popular social media site yesterday after Neath-based AM Bethan Jenkins reported its contents after she claimed they were offensive.
The page encouraged women to send in degrading remarks, which would then be posted online anonymously.
A spokesman for the website confirmed that it has now been removed.
South Wales West AM Ms Jenkins said it was concerning that people were able to post anonymously:
"This page is not only extremely insulting to women, in my view it also amounts to cyber-bullying," she said.
"Literally anyone who has a grievance with a woman can go on that page and accuse them of the kind of behaviour which would see them ostracised by friends and family, and picked on by everyone else.
"And it comes just a few days ahead of International Women's Day this Friday.
"If you want to damn someone, then be prepared to use your name."
The page in question gained 338 'likes' from Facebook users before it was removed.
Last month Gwent Police, in response to a rise in these 'Spotted' websites, warned that messages which were grossly offensive or indecent could be reported to the police.
A spokesman for Facebook said: "We are clear that there is no place for bullying or harassment on Facebook.
"When a page such as this crosses a line and posts bullying content then we will remove it.
"We have a real name policy and provide our users with reporting links on every page of our site so they can flag content to us for removal.
"We encourage people to use these tools so we can take appropriate action."
