LLANELLI maintained the pressure on the Principality Premiership top three thanks to a 26-11 victory over Aberavon at Parc y Scarlets.

Tries from scrum-half Ryan Jones and wing Dion Jones, coupled with 16 points from the boot of centre Owen Williams, earned the home side a fourth consecutive league win, which keeps them firmly in the hunt for the play-off spots.

Williams opened the scoring with an 11th-minute penalty before fly-half Craig Evans responded for the Wizards.

Much of the possession and territory belonged to Llanelli in the opening half, with Scarlets prop Rhodri Jones, in his first game back from shoulder surgery, doing damage at scrum time.

A second Williams penalty made it 6-3, before impressive scrum-half Jones sliced through for a converted score.

Evans pulled a penalty back, but when Wizards had hooker Gareth Harvey sin-binned for an offence at the breakdown, Williams made it 16-6.

Another Williams success extended the home advantage, but the numbers were evened up when Llanelli skipper Adam Powell was shown yellow for an off-the-ball incident.

Llanelli went further in front when Academy speedster Jones showed brilliant footballing skills to claim his side's second try and despite flanker Chris Davies driving over from an attacking line-out late on, Aberavon left empty handed.
