BANDS are to be given the chance to compete for a spot in the limelight at a huge student festival.

Betws RFC is calling all bands in the Carmarthenshire area to send in CDs or DVDs to gain a place in its Battle of the Bands contest.

Those selected for the final will compete on Saturday, April 27, at the rugby club.

The winner of the competition will be given the chance to play a guest set at student festival — Beach Break Live, between June 20 and June 24.

Paul Griffiths, who is organising the Battle of the Bands, said the prize could be potentially life changing.

Not only has the competition successfully gained a very sought after prize but it has also received the support and help from Cadno Music in Llanelli and Club Oxygen in Swansea.

To enter, all band members must be over 18 and send in two original songs before Wednesday, March 20.

Bands entering must also be available for the final on April 27 and to play at a date and time chosen by Beach Break.

Entries can either be uploaded to www.facebook.com/betws.rfc or can be sent in CD or DVD form to Betws RFC, Maes-y-Felin, Mill Road, Ammanford, SA18 2HL.
