THE jury in a trial where a transgender man is accused of raping a woman have been read his police interviews.
Nadine Williams, 39, also known as Dean, was arrested in the early hours of October 5 from an address in Neath.
When he was arrested Williams was wearing just a pair of women's underwear, Swansea Crown Court heard.
After he was taken to Neath police station, he told officers the pair had gone back to the address in Neath and made their way upstairs to look at a converted bedroom known as "The Dungeon". The room had been made into a sadomasochistic or S&M, room.
Williams said he had been out for dinner with the woman before he invited her back to the house, which he was house-sitting for a friend, to show her the room, which the woman said was filled with sex toys, whips and cages.
As they were in the room, Williams said he began kissing the woman while holding her face. Williams said they then made their way into the bedroom where they began undressing each other.
"We were both fumbling because we just wanted to get into bed with each other," Williams told the interviewing officer.
Williams said the pair had consensual sex and the woman, who cannot be named for legal reasons, was taking the lead. He said they then both performed sex acts on each other before going downstairs together.
He said the woman had joked with him that Williams's false nails had scratched her, before they returned upstairs to have sex for a second time but an argument broke out.
He said the woman then lashed out, and she slapped him, causing him to have a nose bleed, before she fled the house.
"She got all panicky and she hit my nose with her hand," said Williams.
Detective Constable Darren Isaacs asked Williams if the woman had seemed happy. "Yes," he replied. DC Isaacs to rate his drunkeness level, which Williams placed at a six on a scale of one to ten, where one is the lowest.
Williams admitted the woman had also been drinking but said she had a lower tolerance than him.
When he was asked directly, "Did you, on October 4, 2011, rape her?" Williams replied: "No, certainly not".
"She was lucid," said Williams.
DC Isaacs told the jury he returned to the address in Neath to search it after Williams had been arrested. He said he found a blood-stained bra belonging to the defendant and items of the woman's clothing including a ripped black top and her jeans.
The prosecution allege that Williams straddled the woman in an upstairs bedroom down before ripping off her clothes and raping her. They say he then completed a sex act on her, against her will, before committing a third attack in a downstairs room at the house.
Williams, of Dan-y-coed, Tonmawr, denies a charge of rape and two of assault by penetration.
