A DAD who has been refused entry to the UK has spoken of his heartbreak at being separated from his Swansea wife.
The Post reported earlier this month on the story of British citizen Zena Hamodat, whose husband Ahmad and their two children have been refused entry to the UK — despite Mrs Hamodat working full-time and claiming no benefits.
Mrs Hamodat has now flown out to Jordan for an emotional reunion with her family, the first time she has seen them in 13 months.
Speaking through Mrs Hamodat as a translator, Mr Hamodat said: "I am really excited that Zena is here but it is devastating what we have been through.
"I have coped all this time. I love my wife and children and I hope that we will all be together soon.
"I was hoping to start a new life in the UK for the family, we were all really looking forward to building up a better future."
Despite the pressures on the family, the couple remain hopeful they will get the UK Border Agency to overturn their decision.
The family's visa settlement application has been rejected on the basis that the agency does not believe Mrs Hamodat earns enough money to support her family.
In their refusal letter, the agency also stated they did not believe a job offer for Mr Hamodat from KFC amounted to a "meaningful offer of employment."
Mrs Hamodat, 32, of Ael y Bryn Road, Fforestfach, added: "I have been really excited to come over and see my children and husband.
"My son was very emotional, it was a lot to take in, in some ways.
"But we have been thinking about what we can do to get them to come to the UK.
"Hopefully by the end of February, beginning of March we should have a decision again."
